Geraldine Sapp Reed, a cherished member of her community, passed away on May 3, 2024, at the age of 81. She was born on September 27, 1942, in Ashe County, North Carolina, to the late Charles Ben Sapp and Barbara Ruth Elliott Sapp.
Geraldine was a woman of many talents and passions. She dedicated her life to serving others, both as a teacher's assistant and as the proprietor of the beloved local Bible book store, The Shepherd's Staff in downtown West Jefferson, which she co-owned with the late Cheryl Ann Hicks for over twenty years. Through her work, she touched the lives of countless individuals, spreading knowledge, faith, and kindness wherever she went.
Outside of her professional life, Geraldine was also a member of Warrensville Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher and Bible School Director for many years. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was an avid reader, finding solace and inspiration in the pages of her favorite books. She also had a talent for puzzles, spending many peaceful hours unraveling their mysteries. Gardening was another passion of hers, and she could often be found tending to her beautiful flower gardens, nurturing life with care and love.
Geraldine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She cherished her family above all else and created a home filled with warmth, love, and laughter, and her memory will be cherished by her family and friends for years to come.
Mrs. Reed is survived by her husband of almost 63 years, Ed Reed, one daughter, Rebecca Reed of West Jefferson, one grandson, Tyler Reed, one sister, Jeannie Fox Stone and husband, Jim of West Jefferson, one niece, Jill Osborne and one nephew, Daniel Osborne both of West Jefferson three great-nephews, Logan, Luke and Ian Osborne, three great-nieces, Allie and Amber Roten and Peyton Osborne also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 6, 2024 at 1:00pm at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Rev. Jackie Stone. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00pm one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Warrensville Baptist Church WMU; PO Box 286 Warrensville, NC 28693.
Geraldine may have left this world, but her legacy of love, faith, and compassion will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
