Mrs. Gertrude Emilie Hamm, age 72 of Lansing died on Sunday, November 6, 2016 at Ashe Memorial Hospital in Jefferson. Mrs. Hamm was born on July 19, 1944 in Cecil County, MD to Francis E. and Eva Virginia McGlothlin MacCauley. Mrs. Hamm was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Walter Worth Hamm, son, Stephen Francis Hamm, daughter-in-law, Melissa Hamm, and brother, Robert Thomas MacCauley. Mrs. Hamm was a member of Meadowview Mennonite Church where she played piano and was a Sunday School teacher in the past. She retired from Gates Rubber Co. in 2011. She enjoyed growing plants and flowers and spending time outdoors. She loved taking care of and spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was a 4-H troop leader when her children were younger. She was a loving, kind, giving, welcoming and hospitable person who will be missed.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 12:00 pm at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Elder Eddie Lyle and Rev. Dan Hess. Burial will follow in the Davis-Ham Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, November 11, 2016 at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel. Friends may also call from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at the home at 415 Honeysuckle Lane in Lansing.
Mrs. Hamm is survived by: Son, David T. (Bonita) Hamm of Lansing, Son, Anthony Hamm of Lansing, Daughter, Diana Hamm of West Jefferson, Daughter, Rebecca (Christopher) McNeill of Jefferson; grandchildren, Samantha McNeill, Taylor McNeill, Gabrielle Hamm, Vanessa Hamm, Tyler Grooms, and Ethan Grooms; brothers, Francis "Buddy" (Donna) MacCauley of Nottingham, PA, Richard MacCauley of Louisa, VA, and Ronnie MacCauley of Bumpass, VA; sisters, Ruth Barker of Oxford, PA, Mary (Barry) Stephens of Nottingham, PA, Joan Sexton of Olympia, WA, Elaine (Elwood) Morrison of New Castle, DE, Sandra (James) McClure of Landenburg, PA, Peggy (Larry) Wentzel of Kirks Mill, PA, Patricia Jernigan, Carol (Robert) King, and Laura "Beattle" (Joe) King, all of Bumpass, VA; also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Flowers will be appreciated, or memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
