Gertrude (Lewis) Lewis

Gertrude (Lewis) Lewis, age 85 of West Chester, Pennsylvania passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at the Pocopson Home where she had resided for the past 13 years.

Gertrude was born on October 20, 1934 in Ashe County, North Carolina to the late Odell and Cora Lewis. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by two sisters, Linna (Lewis) Osbourne and Linda Gale Lewis and a son, Thomas Dale Lewis.

Prior to retiring, Gertrude was employed by Union Hospital in Elkton, Maryland for 27 years. Before moving to West Chester, Pennsylvania, Gertrude resided in Elkton, Maryland and West Jefferson, North Carolina.

Gertrude is survived by her daughter, Wanda Day and husband, Bob of Elkton, Maryland, her son, Sam Lewis and wife, Jen of Newark, Delaware and her daughter in law, Kim Lewis of West Chester, Pennsylvania. Two sisters, Ina Jean Ashley of West Jefferson, North Carolina and Louise Byrd of Morganton, North Carolina, and four brothers, Bill Lewis of West Jefferson, North Carolina, Bob Lewis of Jefferson, North Carolina, Clarence Lewis of Warrensville, North Carolina and Roger Lewis of Valdese, North Carolina. In addition she is survived by five grandchildren, Ann Morley of Newark, Delaware, Wanda Granado of Elkton, Maryland, Mitchell Duncan of Wilmington, Delaware and Joshua Lewis and Delaney Lewis both of Newark, Delaware and six great grandchildren, four great, great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Gertrude enjoyed listening to country and gospel music, watching the WWE and spending time with her family.

Visitation will be held at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Friday, September 11, 2020. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am led by Reverend Tommy Dollar and Reverend Joey McClure. The graveside service will follow at the Kemp-Lewis Cemetery.
