Gladys Irene (Caudill) Greer

Gladys Irene Caudill Greer, age 90 of Mt. Airy, Maryland (formerly of Hyattsville, MD and Ashe County, NC) went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 22, 2017. Mrs. Greer was born in Warrensville, NC on July 13, 1927 to the late Garland and Maggie Sturgill Caudill. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Oscar Harold Greer.

She married Oscar Harold Greer on January 15, 1948.  Together they created a loving home where they raised their three children.  They shared passions for love of family, camping, travel, and their faith in God.  Mrs. Greer loved being a wife and mother, neighbor and friend.  She served as Sunday School Teacher, Girl Scout and Cub Scout Leader and was active in the different churches she attended over the years. She enjoyed her flowers and music (especially hymns, 50’s era, country gospel) but her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family.

Mrs. Greer is survived by her son, Steven Greer and wife Cathy of Laurel, MD; daughter, Janice Monahan and husband Kevin of Hartland, WI; son, James Greer and wife Sherri of Smithsburg, MD; five grandchildren, Shannon Marx and husband Jason, Erin Monahan, Kelly Monahan, Lauren Riley and husband Travis, Cameron Greer; two great-grandchildren, Autumn and Avery Marx; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at 11:00 am at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
