Mr. Harry Lee Miller, age eighty-six, died peacefully in his home January 1, 2011 in the presence of his wife and daughter. Harry Lee was married to the former Maude Scott who had been his faithful companion for sixty-two years and his caregiver for the past twelve years during his illness. He is also survived by one daughter, Harriett Janell Miller, one granddaughter, Tammy Michelle Buchanan, and two great grandchildren. Mr. Miller was born March 17,1924 to George A. and Mae Calloway Miller who along with his brother, Allen Miller, and granddaughter, Heather Lee Trivette, pre-deceased him. Others living to cherish his memory are six sisters: Silver Abernathy, Georgia Bryant, Hazel Hodges, Betty Lou Monroe, Sally Scott, and Mary Nell Weaver. Also surviving is one brother, Jimmy Richard Miller. Harry Lee attended West Jefferson School and was a veteran of World War II. After returning home from service in the South Pacific Theatre, he began a career as an automobile mechanic. He excelled in his craft and was sought out as a master mechanic who solved mechanical problems on which others had given up. Harry Lee was a faithful member of West Jefferson United Methodist Church and the West Jefferson Fire Department. Family visitation was held at Badger's Funeral Home in West Jefferson Monday, January 3, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. with a celebration of life following at 2:00 p.m.. Burial was in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens.
