Heather Elaine Pennington, age 50 of West Jefferson, passed away on Friday, January 26, 2024, at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center in Charlotte. Heather was born on January 13, 1974, in Ashe County to her loving parents, Duane Gale Pennington and Janis Dianne Goss Pennington. She was preceded in death by her beloved mother.
Heather's life was marked by a vibrant spirit and a deep love for her family and community. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, cherishing moments spent decorating for holidays, camping under the open sky, creating beautiful floral arrangements, and most of all, relishing the precious time she shared with her loved ones.
Heather's heart overflowed with love for her family, including her devoted son, Jesse Earp of West Jefferson, and her beloved daughter, MaKayla Phipps (Evan) of Jefferson. She was a dedicated daughter to her father, Duane Pennington of West Jefferson, and a cherished sister to Christy Pennington, also of West Jefferson.
She will be dearly missed by her niece, Megan Jessup (Chelsea) of Trion, NC, and her nephew, Tanner Grogan of Kill Devil Hills, NC. Heather is also survived by her aunt, Karen Cooper of Warrensville, her uncles, Clay Pennington (Joy) of Weaverville, and Jesse Goss (Joanne) of Belton, TX, and the father of her children, Joe Earp of Boone.
In addition to her family, Heather shared a special bond with her cat, Reggie, who brought her comfort and companionship throughout the years.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Rev. Tim Roten. Entombment will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum of Prayer.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm prior to the service.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials made be made to Life Share of the Carolinas in care of Jesse Earp, 155 Country Side Acres Drive, West Jefferson, NC 28694.
Heather's memory will forever be cherished by her family and friends, and her legacy of love and laughter will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
