Helen Marie Testerman Roark

Helen Testerman Roark, age 98 of West Jefferson, passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at Margate Health and Rehab. Mrs. Roark was a retiree of Leviton Manufacturing Company.

She was born on November 17, 1926 in Ashe County to Avery Testerman and Maggie Jones Testerman. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sylvester Roark of West Jefferson; an infant son, Ivan; six brothers, Paul Testerman of Lansing, Carl Testerman of Willoughby, Ohio, Jones Testerman of Grassy Creek, Gwen Testerman of Silas Creek, Jack Testerman of Grassy Creek, and Eugene "Gene" Testerman of Saucom Township, Pennsylvania; and sisters, Hazel Roark of West Jefferson and Reba Rash of Jefferson.

Mrs. Roark is survived by:  two sons, Lester Roark and wife Pat of Creston and Earl Roark and wife Linda of Crumpler; one daughter, Phyllis Roark Phelps and husband Larry of Stokesdale, North Carolina; one brother, Virgil Testerman of New Castle, Delaware; two sisters, Gladys Conley of Matthews, North Carolina and Ann Goss of Jefferson; also surviving are eight grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Roark was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who loved the Lord, and put others before herself. She will be greatly missed by her family; and they are grateful and blessed to have had her in their lives for so many years.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 15, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Rev. Tommy Dollar. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm prior to the service.

The family wants to extend their appreciation to her caregivers at Margate Health and Rehab for her care, and for the love that was show to her while she was there.
