Mr. Henry Chong Dock Lum age 82 of Jefferson, NC died Sunday, October 4, 2009 at Margate Health and Rehab. Mr. Lum was born October 3, 1927 in Honolulu, Hawaii to the late Phillip and H. A. Lum. Mr. Lum served in the US Army in WWII. Henry attended medical technology school in St. Louis, MO. He was a medical technologist in Lexington, NC then at Ashe Memorial Hospital for 39 years. He was director of radiology and anesthesia departments. He was a member of the hospital board of directors. He was a member of the Lions Club and an avid fisherman, poker player and sports fan. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at the Jefferson United Methodist Church by Rev. Dr. Keith Franklin. Burial will follow in the Jefferson Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Tuesday, Oct. 6th at Badger Funeral Home. Mr. Lum is survived by, His wife Ruby Dillard Lum 1 daughter, Dr. Tammy Thore and husband Joe of Jefferson 2 sons: Phil Lum and wife Chris of Advance, NC & Charles Dillard and wife Joyce of Jefferson, NC 1 brother: David Lum of Hawaii 2 sisters: Virginia Wat and Helen Lum of Hawaii 5 grandchildren: Katie and Olivia Thore, Atticus and Maxwell Lum and Michelle Dillard and several nieces and nephews also survive.
