Herbert Edgar Wilcox

Herbert Edgar Wilcox age 88 of Crumpler passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at his home.  Mr. Wilcox was born on November 28, 1928 in Ashe County, NC to Phillip Edgar and Emma Jane Severt Wilcox.  He was proceeded in death by his parents, his wife, Anna Dishman Wilcox, daughter, Brenda Wilcox Hoosier and sister, Francis White.  Herbert loved to play rook, even traveling to compete in tournaments, he also enjoyed all types of fishing.  Mr. Wilcox owned and operated his logging company for around 60 years.  He had a great sense of humor and always enjoyed joking and especially picking on everyone in the family.

The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00pm Sunday evening, September 17, 2017 at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel.  A private graveside service will be held with Rev. John Elledge officiating.

Mr. Wilcox is survived by: three daughters, Ann Wilcox, Linda Wilcox, and Leona Stansberry, all of Crumpler, two sons, Marvin Wilcox and Reggie Wilcox, both of Crumpler, two sisters, Faye Greene of Virginia, Blanche Barker of Jefferson and one brother, Larry Wilcox of Virginia.  Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
