Howard "Beecher" Monroe Friesland

Howard Monroe Friesland, better known as "Beecher," passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2024 surrounded by the love of his family. Mr. Friesland was born on August 5, 1940 in Ashe County, North Carolina to the late Emmitt an Ila Clara Parsons Friesland. Known for his kind heart and love for people, Beecher touched the lives of everyone he met.

Beecher was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, where his faith and fellowship inspired all who knew him. He found peace and joy in the great outdoors, whether spending time simply enjoying the beauty of God’s creation, or working in a Christmas tree or tobacco patch.

Mr. Friesland is survived by his wife, Maxine Atwood Friesland, one son, Calvin Friesland (Taria) of Glade Valley, one daughter, Wendy Friesland of Norwood, sister, Anna Lou Dishman of Lenoir, three grandchildren, Steven Roten (Alex) of Statesville, Aaron Roten of Norwood and Clara Friesland of Boone. Also surviving are six great-grandchildren, Madyson, Addison, A.J., Benjamin, Elizabeth and Samuel as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at 12:00pm at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Rev. Kirby McNeill. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 11:00am-12:00pm one hour prior to the service.

Flowers will be accepted. The family respectfully requests no food please.

Beecher's memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and the many lives he enriched throughout his life’s journey. His presence, kindness, and faith will be deeply missed but forever cherished.
