Ina Mae (Poe) Brooks

Ina Mae Poe Brooks, age 92 of West Jefferson passed away the evening of Monday, July 8, 2019 at Ashe Memorial Hospital.  Mrs. Brooks was born in Ashe County on Monday, September 6, 1926 to the late James William and Mamie Clara Eller Poe.  In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Garney Brooks.  Mrs. Brooks retired from Sprague Electric company, she enjoyed her flowers and gardening as well as quilting and needlepoint.  Most importantly she will always be remembered as a loving mother.

Mrs. Brooks is survived by: 3 daughters; Linda Grogan, Helen Brooks, and Wanda Brooks all of West Jefferson; 2 sons: Danny Brooks and wife, Joan and Darrell Brooks and wife, Janice  both of West Jefferson;  7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, July 12th at 11:00 in the morning at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Rev. Herb Parunak and Rev. Keith Casey.  Burial will follow in the Ashelawn Memorial Garden of Good Shepherd.

The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 am one hour prior to the service at Ashelawn.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice in Mrs. Brooks' name.
