Irene (Craft) Marsh

Irene Craft Marsh, born on November 17, 1929, in the picturesque landscapes of Ashe County, North Carolina, passed away on December 11, 2023. Irene was the cherished daughter of the late William Kilby and Brucie Faye Miller Craft.

Irene's life was a testament to the enduring power of love, as she spent an incredible 70 years as the devoted wife of Ballard Glenn Marsh. Irene now reunites with Ballard and their beloved daughter, Janet Marsh Zeller, who preceded her in death.

Irene was a quintessential southern cook, whose kitchen was always infused with the aromas of comfort and love. Her recipes, steeped in tradition, will undoubtedly live on in the hearts and kitchens of those fortunate enough to have experienced her delicious creations.

Irene's adventurous spirit led her to explore the world alongside her husband. The Marsh's embarked on numerous journeys, creating a treasure trove of shared experiences that became the foundation of enduring family stories.

A steadfast pillar of strength and love, Irene was a nurturing mother and grandmother. She is survived by her daughters, Sonja Bennett of Boone and Sharon Barr of Caswell Beach, seven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Irene was a lifelong member of Pine Swamp Baptist Church, where her faith found expression in community, compassion, and service.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at 3:00 pm at Pine Swamp Baptist Church by Rev. Steve Viers. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 pm prior to the service at the church.
