Odell Jackson Lovelace, better known as Jack, age 89 of Jefferson, died Monday, November 20, 2017 at Margate Health & Rehab. Jack was born May 1, 1928 in Ashe County to the late Arthur Glenn and Ina Kathleen Blevins Lovelace. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his daughter Sherrie Ashley and infant daughters, Janice Kay and Audrey Jeanette Lovelace.
Jack was a member of Shelter Baptist Church. He was an ordained minister who traveled preaching the gospel and singing. He loved serving the Lord. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and playing the guitar at nursing homes and churches.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Shelter Baptist Church by Rev. Mike McElhaney. Burial will follow in the Scott-Blevins Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 pm Friday at Badger Funeral Home.
Mr. Lovelace is survived by:
2 daughters, Sandra Hamm of Jefferson and Charleen Edwards of Hillsville, VA, 3 sisters, Kathleen Rose and Wretha Greer both of West Jefferson and Helen Richardson of Whitetop, VA, 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Flowers will be appreciated or memorials may be made to the Scott Blevins Cemetery Fund.
The family will be meeting at the home place.
