James Russell Barker

Mr. James Russell Barker, age 90 of Crumpler passed away Monday, March 5, 2018 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem. Mr. Barker was born in Ashe County, NC to James Monroe Barker and Barbara E. Wyatt Barker. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Charlotte Joan Howell Barker; two brothers, W. Blaine Barker and John C. Barker; one sister, Della Henry.

Mr. Barker served in the Army in Germany. He worked as a truck driver and enjoyed working around the yard. He was a member of Long Branch Baptist Church.

Mr. Barker is survived by:  Sons, Jack L. Barker, Mike D. Barker, David W. Barker, James R. Barker, Jr., John E. Barker, and Christopher M. Barker, all of Lancaster, Pennsylvania; Daughter, Sharon E. Spiese of Lancaster, Pennsylvania; five grandsons, two granddaughters, several brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 am at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Rev. Larry Shepherd. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Saturday prior to the funeral service at Ashelawn.
