. Mr. James Garland Grogan better known as Garland age 85, of Jefferson died on Saturday, April 23, 2011 at the Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem. Mr. Grogan was born on July 31, 1925 in Ashe County, NC to Raymond Andrew and Beatrice Worley Grogan. Mr. Grogan was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Bobbie Greer. Mr. Grogan served in the US Army during World War II. He retired from Phenix Chair Company. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to flea markets and spending time with his family. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at 2:00 pm at the Badger Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Beaver Creek Christian Church Cemetery with Military Rites. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, April 25, 2011 at Badger Funeral Home. Mr. Grogan is survived by: 3 sons, James A. Grogan and wife Shirley, Steve Grogan and fiancée Jennifer Carter-Freeman both of West Jefferson, Christopher Grogan and wife Trish of Warrensville, one daughter, Katinka Day and husband Rhondle of West Jefferson, sister, Arlie Joines of West Jefferson, brother in-law, Norman Greer, 3 brothers, Shirley Grogan, Glenn Grogan, Arvil Grogan all of Todd, also surviving are 12 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
