Mr. James Thomas "Jim" Jones age 71, of Whitetop, VA died on Sunday, December 18, 2016 at Ashe Memorial Hospital in Jefferson. Mr. Jones was born on January 8, 1945 in Ashe County to Edd and Wina Ham Jones. Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Reese Jones, Wilson Jones, and Hoyle Jones; Nephew, Travis Miller. Jim worked for Ashelawn Memorial Gardens from 1977 to 2015. He attended Helton Valley Baptist Church. He enjoyed sports and politics. Jim loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Helton Valley Baptist Church by Rev. Lloyd Day, Rev. Jim Greer, Rev. Dennis Blevins, and Rev. Herb Parunak. Burial will follow in the Roop Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at Helton Valley Baptist Church.
Mr. Jones is survived by: Wife, Brenda Jones, Son, Gerald Jones, Son, Randy Jones, Son, Tracy (Tammy) Jones, Brother, Jack (Velma) Jones, Grandchildren, Ethan, Thomas "Peanut", Cole, Kaitlynn, Caroline, and Little John, Great-Granddaughter, Harper Rose Jones; also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
