Jerri Kay Wells Ham age 65 of West Jefferson passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at Ashe Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family.  Mrs. Ham was born on Friday, April 11, 1958 in Marion, Virginia to the late Charlie Grant and Virginia Kate Reedy Wells.  In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by brothers-in-law Don Phillips and Harvey Sample.

Jerri will be remembered as a remarkable woman with an unwavering commitment to her loved ones. From an early age, Jerri's faith in the Lord played a central role in her life. She found solace and guidance in her religious beliefs and remained dedicated to serving others throughout her journey. This commitment to selflessness and compassion shaped her interactions with family, friends, and even strangers. When Jerri married her beloved husband, Russell, she wholeheartedly embraced his love for sports. She enthusiastically cheered on their favorite teams and players. Their love for sports became a cornerstone of their relationship, strengthening their bond over the years. Jerri always prioritized the needs and well-being of others. Whether it was a family member in need or a friend going through a difficult time, she was always there with a listening ear, comforting words, and a helping hand. Her thoughtfulness and empathy left an indelible impact on the lives of those she touched. Family was everything to Jerri. She treasured her role as a wife, mother, sister, and friend, and her love for her family knew no bounds. One of Jerri's favorite pastimes was embarking on road trips with her family, especially to the Amish country in Ohio and Pennsylvania. These adventures allowed her to embrace the beauty of nature and create lasting memories with her loved ones. Mrs. Ham’s positive impact on the lives of others extended far beyond her family circle. As a loyal friend and dedicated co-worker, she uplifted and inspired those around her. Her kindness and compassion were always present, leaving a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Mrs. Ham is survived by her husband of 46 years, Russell Ham, one son, Nathan Ham (Marlee Calloway) of West Jefferson, one brother, Jack Wells (Linda) of Virginia, three sisters, Sue Phillips of West Jefferson, Betsy Hope (David) and Berneatha Sample both of Maryland, aunt Betty Cox of Crumpler as well as several nieces and nephews also survive.
