Mr. Jimmy Dean Reeves age 64, of West Jefferson, NC died on Tuesday, Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at the Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem, NC. Mr. Reeves was born on Friday, July 23, 1948 in Ashe County to Benjamin Everette and Flo Howell Reeves. After graduating from Ashe Central High School, Jim attended Wake Forest University, where he served as President of Sigma Pi Fraternity, followed by graduation at Wake Forest University School Of Law, serving on the Law Review.  In 1973, Jim began practicing law with his mentor, Wade E. Vannoy, Jr., forming Vannoy & Reeves, PLLC in 1976, which is now the Reeves Law Firm, PLLC.  He continued practicing until about six weeks before his death.  Jim enjoyed the legal profession, and he loved helping others, bettering the lives of countless people.  He was named one of the Outstanding Lawyers of America and was honored to serve as the State Bar Councilor for the Twenty-Third District for the last four years. Jim loved West Jefferson, and provided leadership and service in many organizations. He served on numerous boards, including, the Board of Directors of AF Bank/LifeStore Financial Group, where he was also Chairman of the Board; Northwestern Enterprises, Inc.; and the Northwest Trading Post.  Jim proudly represented the Town of West Jefferson for thirty-eight years.  He was passionate about his family, Jimmy Buffett, and the Democratic Party. Jim was preceded in death by his father, Benjamin Everette Reeves; and by dear loved ones, Robert and Charity Barr.  He is survived by his mother, Flo Howell Reeves of Crumpler; his wife, Martha Long Reeves of Jefferson; his children: Mary Alexandra Reeves of Charlotte; John "Jak" Benjamin Reeves and wife, Tamara DiVenere of Boone, Courtlyn Channing Reeves of Charlotte, and Cagney Alexis Reeves of West Jefferson; his brother and sister-in-law, Michael Ray and Amy Reeves of Hickory; and his niece Elizabeth Bauer of Clemmons; and nephew, William Reeves of Hickory. Visitation will be Friday, August 3rd, at the West Jefferson United Methodist Church, from 3:00-5:00 p.m. followed by a celebration of life service at 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: Ashe County Habitat For Humanity, PO Box 392, West Jefferson, NC  28694 Singing for Change Chairatable Foundation, PO Box 729, Sullivans Island, SC  29482 NAACP, Development Dept., 4805 Mount Hope Dr., Baltimore, MD  21215.
