Joann Jones
Joann Jones, age 90 of Todd passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at Watauga Medical Center. She was born in Watauga County to the late, Ed Finley and Elsie Mae Miller Jones. She was preceded in death by two brothers, one sister and her husband, Basil Jones on September 9, 2023. She was a member of South Fork Baptist Church.
Joann was a cherished member of the South Fork Baptist Church, where she served faithfully as the treasurer for many years. Her contributions extended beyond her financial duties; she was a cornerstone of the church's community events, often found in the kitchen cooking her famous butterscotch and chocolate pies, which were loved by all.
A devoted mother and grandmother, Joann's greatest pride and joy were her grandchildren. She spoke of them often with unwavering pride. Her love and warmth were felt deeply by her family, who will miss her dearly.
Joann was a familiar and beloved face at the Creston and Todd post offices, where she managed the bulk mail transportation. She relished the daily interactions with the community, always greeting everyone with a smile.
Known for her servant’s heart, Joann dedicated her life to visiting, caregiving, cooking for, and helping others. Her generosity and kindness left an indelible mark on the hearts of many.
Mrs. Jones is survived by: two sons, Gregory (Jennifer) Jones of Todd and Galen Jones of Lansing, four grandchildren, Trevor, Adam, Katelyn, and Kaleb, six great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, May 19, 2024 at South Fork Baptist Church by Rev. David Cooper. Burial will be in the Graham Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 3:00 pm prior to the service at the church.
