Jody Lynn Blevins died at his home in Jefferson, NC. He was 51 years old. Jody was a very talented and gifted man. He loved to help people overcome challenges in life, especially those dealing with mental illness. He himself struggled with this disease. However, he overcame this challenge and was able to earn a Masters Degree from Goddard University and oversaw a successful counseling career for many years. He also authored a book to help people navigate through the trials of mental illness. Jody confronted the many hardships he faced in life with courage and resolve. He did so until the end of his life. His struggles have now ended and he has transitioned to his eternal home. Jody was loved by all those who took the time to know him. He helped many people. He will be missed much. Jody was born on November 24, 1968 to Clyde and Logene Blevins. He was preceded in death by his mother and father and his sister, Doris Johnson. He is survived by his sister, Judy Miller and her husband Johnny of Southern Pines, NC, his brother Johnny Blevins and his wife Vicki of Elkin, NC and his brother Jimmy Blevins and his wife Judy of Crumpler, NC. He is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank all those people who showed him kindness and grace in his life’s journey.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2019 at 11:00 am at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
