. Mr. Joe Howard Woods age 69, of Warrensville, died on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at his home. Mr. Woods was born on March 16, 1943 in Ashe County to John Oscar and Martha Katherine Baker Woods. Mr. Woods was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Peggy Lea Hartsoe Woods. Mr. Woods was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church where he served as deacon for many years. He retired after 39 years of service from United Chemi-Con. Most of all Joe enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at 11:00 am at the Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Joey McClure, Minister Danny Miller and Rev. Fred Richardson. Burial will follow in Staggs Creek Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at Badger Funeral Home.  Mr. Woods is survived by: Son, Billy Woods and wife Michele of Lenoir, NC, two daughters, Lisa Mabe and husband Steve of Millers Creek, NC and Barbara Woodie and husband Terry of West Jefferson, three sisters, Ruth Woods of Warrensville, Shirley Jones and husband Junior of Warrensville, Ruby Little and husband Richard of Lansing, three grandchildren, Jessica Mabe, Nicholas Woods and Noah Woods, one step granddaughter, Ashley Reno, one step great-grandson, Aiden Stanley also surviving are several nieces and nephews. The family respectfully request no flowers please memorials may be made to Pine Grove Baptist Church, c/o Walter Black, 1491 Teaberry Road, Warrensville, NC 28693 or a charity of the donor's choice.
