John Parsons

Mr. John Larry Parsons, age 88 of Jefferson, died Monday, December 15, 2003 at the Twin County Regional Hospital in Galax, VA. Mr. Parsons was born October 6, 1915 in Wilkes County to the late Rome and Martha Parsons. He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Burgess Parsons. He was a member of Big Ridge Community Church. He was very active in the community. He was also instrumental in saving the old Court House in Jefferson.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, December 18th at the Badger Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Clayborn Roten will officiate. Burial will follow in the Ebenezer Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 till 9:00 PM, Wednesday at Badger Funeral Home. Flowers will be appreciated or memorials may be made to the Ashe County Historical Society for Court House Preservation, 1904CPO, PO Box 1404, Jefferson, NC 28640

His daughter and son in-law: Shirley and Charles Smith of Mouth of Wilson, VA

Grandchildren: Tommy Smith of Mouth of Wilson, VA, Charlie Smith of Sparta, NC and Margaret Smith of Tokyo, Japan

Sister: Nina Brown of Taylorsville, NC
3 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews
