John Sommers Ashley

John Sommers Ashley, better known as Sommers, age 87 of Warrensville, passed away on Friday, July 15, 2022 at his home. Mr. Ashley was born on August 5, 1934 to the late John Sommers Ashley, Sr. and Arie Mae Eller Ashley Mitchell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, James Lloyd Mitchell and sister, Betty Louise Ashley. Sommers served his country in the United States Air Force. He retired from United Chemi-Con. He enjoyed farming, gardening and riding his lawn mower. Mr. Ashley was always a helping neighbor and was known for his smile and quick wit.

Mr. Ashley is survived by: his wife, Maxine Miller Ashley; one daughter, Anita Ashley Hayes and husband Raymond and grandson, Ezekiel Hayes, all of North Wilkesboro; one son, Jeff and wife Melissa Price Ashley and grandson, John Mitchell Ashley, all of Warrensville; also surviving are many loved nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 19, 2022 from 3:00-5:00 pm at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel. Graveside services with Military Rites will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be: Zeke Hayes, John Mitchell Ashley, B.J. Phipps, Brian Ashley, Randy Eller, Andy Calhoun, Jody Graybeal, honorary pallbearers, Ken Goss and Tony Poe.
