Joseph Lynn Talley

Joseph L. Talley, aka Big Joe age 68 of Jefferson NC, passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem NC. Joe was a devoted husband, cherished father, doting grandfather of Carter Joseph Swindasz. Joe was born on August 22, 1954 in Hollywood, Florida to Joseph S Talley and Norma J. Williams Talley. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Rhonda Gail Talley, one brother Jeffery Allen Talley of Hollywood Florida.
On February 20, 1982, Joe embarked on a lifelong journey of love and companionship when he married his love of his life wife, Pauline. Together, they shared countless joys, challenges, and many blessings, building a strong foundation for his family.
Joe embraced the joys of being Pop-Pop when his Grandson Carter Joseph was born on 9-18-22 his greatest blessing.
One of Joe’s many defining qualities was his unwavering positivity and upbeat spirit and funny sense of humor. Joe believed that there was good in everything and spread this optimism to all who crossed his path. His contagious smile and kind words brightened the lives of those around him, leaving a lasting impact.
Joe retired in 1995 moved to Jefferson NC in 2008 where he loved the cool mountain fresh air and sounds of the song birds. Big Joe loved the simple life qualities living his best life sitting on porches enjoying coffee with his wife Pauline and riding around the neighborhood in his maroon golf car. Big Joe never met a stranger he loved to laugh and tell stories creating lasting memories and imparting his wisdom and love to everyone he met. Joe worked as a commercial/residential Electrican in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Joe was the biggest Florida State University Football Fan.
He is survived by: Wife Pauline M. Talley of Jefferson NC, Daughter Christina (Michael) Swindasz and Carter Joseph (grandson) of Pinehurst NC. Mother-in-law Eileen Boling of Crumpler NC.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at 11:00 am at Midway Baptist Church by Rev. Steve Leashomb. Dress attire is casual Red Shirt and Jeans. (Joes favorite color)
