Karen H. McDonald, 55, passed away on October 27th, 2005 at UNC Chapel Hill Hospital in Chapel Hill, NC.
Mrs. McDonald was born December 21, 1949 at Baptist Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi, daughter of the late Joseph Elmo Hanway and Dena Sessums Sutton. She shared a marriage of thirty six years with Arlen L. McDonald.
Mrs. McDonald began her career in Interior Design at Navarro-McLean in Jackson, Mississippi over fifteen years ago; she was an Allied Member of ASID Interior Design. She continued her success as she owned and managed her own business, KMCD Interiors, after relocating to West Jefferson, NC six years ago. She was a frequent lecturer on Interior Design subjects and was also the founder and first president of West Jefferson Business Association. Mrs. McDonald was an active member of West Jefferson United Methodist Church.
In addition to Interior Design, she enjoyed international travel and was deeply loved by her family. She is survived by two daughters: Melissa Keenan McDonald and Lauren McDonald Ostrom; and a granddaughter, Ellison Brooks Ostrom.
Visitation will be held Monday, October 31, 2005 visitation at West Jefferson United Methodist Church from 10-11:15, with a memorial service at 11:30.
