Lenna Ethel Farmer Keys, age 90, of Lenoir, formerly of Creston, passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at Amorem Hospice Home in Hudson. Mrs. Keys was born June 24, 1931 in Ashe County to the late Clifford Ray Farmer and Ida Jane Sluder Farmer. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Walter Thomas Keys, sons, Jack, Bud and Shorty Keys, brothers, Howard and Daryl Farmer and sisters, Phyllis Neaves and Lois Nichols. Mrs. Keys loved birds, sitting on the porch, coloring, sewing and working on puzzles. She attended Big Laurel Mennonite Church.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, May 9, 2022 at Big Laurel Mennonite Church by Preacher David Lyalls and Pastor Kirby Herman. Burial will follow in the Key Graybeal Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 – 2 pm prior to the service at the church.
Mrs. Keys is survived by, 3 daughters, Carol Aldridge (Don) of Lenoir, Esther Smith (David) of Granite Falls and Barbara Elaine Isley of West Jefferson, son, Sammy Keys (Kim) of Creston, 4 sisters, Eva Sue Weaver of Jefferson, Wanda Nichols of Lansing, Blanche Arthur of Idaho and Pat Mahaffey of Creston and 2 brothers, R C Farmer of TN and Tom Farmer of Creston. 19 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family would like to thank Amorem Hospice for the excellent care that Mrs. Keys received.
