Lillard Carson "Jim" Blevins

Lillard Carson “Jim” Blevins, age 80 of West Jefferson, formerly of Lansing, passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at Ashe Memorial Hospital.  Mr. Blevins was born June 14, 1943 in Ashe County to the late Ira and Clyde Lovelace Blevins. He grew up in Lansing, where he developed a deep-rooted sense of community and compassion. Throughout his life, he remained committed to making a positive impact on those around him. His generous spirit and outgoing nature endeared him to all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

One of his greatest passions was volunteering at Margate Health & Rehab Center, where he brightened the days of residents with his cheerful presence and compassionate heart. His selfless dedication to bringing joy and comfort to others was truly remarkable and left an indelible mark on the lives of both staff and residents alike. In addition to his volunteer work, Mr. Blevins was actively involved in various activities at Generations Ashe, he always helped with coordinating Saturday and Sunday movie nights. Jim was also a valued member of Shelter Baptist Church. His faith was a guiding force in his life, and he found great joy in fellowship and worship with his church community.

Mr. Blevins is survived by several cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, March 24, 2024 at Shelter Baptist Church by Pastor Lewis Young.  Burial will follow in the Pleasant Home Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:00 pm prior to the service at the church.

Though he may be gone from our midst, his spirit will live on through the countless lives he touched with his kindness and compassion. May he rest in peace, knowing that his legacy of love will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew him.
