Luther Brown

Luther Daniel Brown, age 73, of West Jefferson, NC died Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at Ashe Memorial Hospital in Jefferson, NC. Mr. Brown was born November 6, 1935 in Ashe County, NC to the late Robert Foster and Mary Viola Burkett Brown.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Wyatt Brown; a son, Keith Brown; and two brothers, Preacher David Brown and Robert Brown.  He worked as a pipe fitter in the construction industry.   Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 25, 2009 at 2 pm at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Rev. J.C. Darnell. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery.    Mr. Brown is survived by: Two sons: William Bartley Brown and Dennis Brown. One daughter: Debbie Brown.  Four sisters: Rosalee Goodman of Jefferson, NC; Pauline Goodman of Union, OR; Ennice Jordan of West Jefferson, NC; and Ella Sue Grogan of Fleetwood, NC. One brother: Scott Brown of Malloa, OR. Also surviving are 7 stepchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
