Madeline (Ham) Roop

Madeline Ham Roop, age 90 of Lansing, died Monday, January 27, 2020 at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis.  Mrs. Roop was born May 15, 1929 in Ashe County to the late James and Gertie Ham.  In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Jack Andrew Roop, sons, Gary and Johnny Roop, brother, Howard Ham and sisters Doreen Miller, Hazel Immell and Brenda Fronina.

She was a member of Apple Grove Baptist Church where she loved attending.  She loved working in her vegetable and flower gardens and was known for her love of canning.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon, Friday, January 31, 2020 at Apple Grove Baptist Church by Rev. Julian Owen and Rev. Lloyd Day.  Burial will follow in the Pennington Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 – 12:00 prior to the service.

Mrs. Roop is survived by, her son, Raymond Roop of Concord, daughter, Jean Bare of Jefferson, sisters, Geraldine Ziegler and Kathleen Downer both of Pennsylvania and Violet Wildman of TN, 6 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
