Marilyn Elaine Roark Rash Salyer

Mrs. Marilyn Elaine Roark Rash Salyer, age 80 of Ashe County, NC passed away Sunday at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Lenoir, NC. Marilyn was born October 24, 1934 in Ashe County, a daughter of the late Rev. Keene Roark and Grace Osborne Roark. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Denver Rash, her second husband, Grover Salyer, her daughter, Judy Rash Bryant, a brother, Mack Roark, two sisters, Reba Roark Main and Eyvonne Roark Stewart. She retired and enjoyed traveling between her homes in Port Deposit, MD and Rockledge, FL until moving back to NC. She enjoyed the outdoors; going to the beach for a day, riding bikes, swimming, gardening and walking her beloved dogs, Tippy and Angel. She loved bowling, playing basketball, clogging, tap dancing and collecting items of her interest. She had a passionate love for tennis as well as spending time with her family and friends. She was a social butterfly. She was the pianist at Americana Resort in Florida for a number of years. Marilyn's beautiful smile will be missed by many.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at 7:00 pm at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Rev. Phil Arnold and Rev. Chris Goodman. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, December 18, 2014 at 11:00 am at Ashelawn Memorial Gardens

Mrs. Salyer is survived by: Grandson, David Osborne and wife Nicole of Creston, Special Nieces and caregivers, Annetta Roark Miller and husband Richard of Creston and Deaett Roark Roten and husband Carroll of Creston, Brother, J.B. Roark and wife Connie of Crumpler, Sister-In-Law, Geneva Roark of Creston, Uncle, Ray Osborne of Portland, OR, Aunt, Imogene Osborne of Mocksville; also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews.

Flowers will be appreciated, or memorials may be made to Three Forks Baptist Church.
