. Mrs. Mary Louise Fletcher Hartzog age 84, of Fleetwood, NC, the Idlewild Community, died on Monday, August 22, 2011 at Wilkes Senior Village in North Wilkesboro, NC. Mrs. Hartzog was born on December 23, 1926 in Columbus, OH to Greely and Naomi Taylor Fletcher. At age 5 she moved to their farm in Idlewild. On January 15, 1947 she was married to Burl William Hartzog who she loved dearly and was married to him for 59 years until he passed away May 15, 2006.  She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She was a wonderful homemaker and was known for her meticulous home and flower gardens and her domestic talents.  She loved children and taught many years in the beginners Sunday School and Bible School at Old Fields Baptist Church. In addition to her parents and husband she was also preceded in death by two brothers, Cecil and Robert Fletcher. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2011 at 11:00 am at Old Fields Baptist Church by Rev. Jack Miller & Rev. Keith Casey. Burial will follow in Old Fields Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at Badger Funeral Home Chapel. Mrs. Hartzog is survived by: 1 son, Roy Hartzog and wife Joyce of Crumpler, NC 1 daughter, Linda Risen and husband Bob of Yadkinville, NC 4 grandchildren:  Bryon Hartzog and wife Tina of Ellicott City, MD, Lisa Roten and husband Adam of Glendale Springs, Jeffery Hartzog of Crumpler & Megan Risen Hitchens and husband Jordan of Charlotte, NC 8 great-grandchildren 1 brother, Charles Fletcher and wife Nancy of West Jefferson, NC 3 sisters in law:  Clara Fletcher of West Jefferson, Juanita Fletcher of Winston-Salem & Helen Hartzog of West Jefferson several nieces & nephews Flowers will be appreciated, or memorials may be made to Old Fields Baptist Church c/o Sally Walters 5375 Idlewild Rd. Fleetwood, NC  28626 or a charity of the donor's choice. You may send and view condolences to the family through our website, www.badgerfuneralhome.com.
