Mary Lou Thompson Yow

Mary Lou Thompson Yow, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2024, at Rose Glen Manor at the age of 95. She was born on March 23, 1929, in Ashe County, North Carolina, to the late Eugene H. and Stella Little Thompson. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her three brothers.

Mary Lou’s life journey led her through the serene landscapes of Ashe County, where she cultivated deep roots and lasting connections within the community. Her warmth and generosity knew no bounds, touching the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Mary Lou also lived in Shallotte, North Carolina, where she continued to spread her love and light. She loved the beach, taking pictures, her dogs and spending time with Carl Caudill, her partner of 37 years. 

Mary Lou will be deeply missed by her family and friends, who take solace in the countless memories and lessons she leaves behind. 

Mary Lou Thompson Yow is survived by her children, Ronald Lee Kelley of Deep Gap and Sharon Kelley of North Wilkesboro as well as 4 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at 2:00pm at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery.
