Mary Gladys (Roten) Miller

Mary Gladys Roten Miller, better known as Gladys, age 91 of Laurel Springs, passed away Sunday, August 21, 2022 at Margate Health and Rehab.  Gladys was born on March 14 , 1931 in Wilkes County, NC to the late Millard Benjamin and Verlie Osborne Roten. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Fletcher Hardin Miller; daughter, Ruth Sheets; son, Dennie Miller; brothers and sisters, Lela Robinson, Ernest Roten, Odell Roten, Bueford Roten, Georgia Richardson, and Grace Noblett; granddaughter, Lori Viers; and great-granddaughter, Anna Sheets.

Mrs. Miller was a member of Ebenezer Community Church. She also spent 16 years working and serving the community at Ashe Services for Aging.  Gladys enjoyed flowers.

Mrs. Miller is survived by;  four daughters, Juanita Royal, Janie Sheets and Ellen Viers, all of Laurel Springs, and Trish Roark of West Jefferson; one sister, Dot Miller of Statesville; a lso surviving are eight grandchildren, Corey Miller, Kristy Miller, Jamie Sheets, Amanda Lewis, Casey Caudill, Samantha Poe, Stacy Viers and Natasha Roark, ten great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, August 25, 2022 at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Rev. Jamie Lewis and Rev. David Lewis. Burial will follow in the Miller Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm, one hour prior to the service, on Thursday, August 25, 2022.
