Maude Marie (Farrington) Hunt

Maude Marie Farrington Hunt, age 96 of Laurel Springs, died Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at her home.  Mrs. Hunt was born April 2, 1921 in Ashe County to the late James and Lola Faircloth Farrington.  In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Hunt and brothers, Jack, Mack, Web, Claude, Frank and Clint Farrington. She graduated from the Glade Valley School in 1940. Mrs. Hunt was a lifelong member of Ebenezer Presbyterian Church, joining the church at the age of 13 and years later serving as church treasurer. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking, playing rook, and later in life she enjoyed setting in her recliner watching the birds and the cars on Roe Hunt Road.

Mrs. Hunt is survived by: sons, Charlie Ray Hunt of Maryland & William David Hunt of Laurel Springs, daughters, Annie Marie Lyall of West Jefferson & Patsy Louise Shumate of Laurel Springs, brother, Robert Farrington of Maryland, sister, Emmy Boyce of Jefferson, special friend and caregiver, Dorothy Hart, six grandchildren, Lance Shumate, Heather Greene, Doug Hunt, Diana Kolego, Chad Hunt, Aaron Dyke, six great-grandchildren, Maddox Greene, Taylor Shumate, Cameron Kolego, Caroline Dyke, Henry Shumate, Caitylnn Shumate and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 2:00pm at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church by Rev. Chris Goodman. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm Friday, January 12, 2018 at Badger Funeral Home.
