Melinda Pearl Winebarger, known affectionately as Betty, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2024, at the age of 84. Betty’s life was one of love, faith, and cherished moments with family, flowers, and feline companions.
Mrs. Winebarger was born on February 20, 1939 in Watauga County, North Carolina to the late Russell and Viola Greer Trivette. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Winebarger.
Betty's heart overflowed with love for her cats, as well as a deep appreciation for the beauty of flowers. Central to Betty's life was her devotion to family and faith. As a dedicated member of Pilot Mountain Baptist Church, she found solace and strength in her relationship with God. Betty cherished the fellowship of her church community and found great joy in attending services and reading the Bible.
Betty's warm smile, gentle demeanor, and unwavering faith touched the lives of all who knew her. Her presence brought comfort and her love knew no bounds.
Though Betty's physical presence may be absent, her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. Her memory will be cherished by her family, friends, and the community she held dear.
She is survived by one son, Ray Winebarger (Sandy) of West Jefferson, one sister, Shirley Trivette, four brothers, Gary Trivette, Clyde Trivette, Arvil Trivette and Kenneth Trivette all of Creston. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Dalton Winebarger, Deidra Winebarger and Sarah Winebarger as well as one great-grandchild, Harper Winebarger.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel at 2:00pm by Rev. Guy Testerman. Burial will follow in Pilot Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00pm one hour prior to the service.
In honoring Betty's memory, let us carry forward her legacy of love, faith, and kindness, remembering her fondly with each flower that blooms and each Bible verse that is read.
