Michael Douglas Banks, 35, of the Creston Community died Sunday, November 20, 2006 at his home. Mr. Banks was born July 10, 1971 to Douglas and Peggy Roark Banks. He was a member of the Silas Creek Baptist Church and faithfully attended the Mt. View Independent Methodist Church. He was employed by Wal-Mart of Boone where he won the respect and admiration of his peers.

Funeral services for Mr. Banks will be conducted on Friday November 24 at 2:00 PM at the Badger Funeral Home Chapel in West Jefferson. The Rev. Tommy Stevens, Rev. James Henson, and Minister Danny Miller will officiate. The family will receive friends from 12:30 -2:00 PM prior to the services on Friday. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens.

In addition to his parents Mr. Banks is survived by his paternal grandmother: Mrs. Ethel Banks of Creston, maternal grandparents: Mr. and Mrs. Edward Roark; a very special friend: Linda; three paternal uncles and wives: Roger and Susan Banks of Creston, Boyd and Margie Banks of Creston, and Johnny and Jane Banks of West Jefferson: one maternal uncle: Doug Roark and two maternal uncles and wives: Russell and Earlene Roark and Rickey and Kathy Roark, all of Creston; two maternal aunts and husbands Wayne and Dianna Price of Lenoir and James and Judy Henson of Creston. He is also survived by several cousins and a host of friends and co-workers. The family request that memorials by made to Mt. View Independent Methodist Church c/o Mr. Rickey D.
