Mildred Irene Treadway Mahaffey age 82 of Warrensville, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Sunday, October 8, 2023 at Ashe Memorial Hospital.
Miss Mildred was born on August 11, 1941, to William Conley and Martisha Riley Treadway in the Clifton Community in Warrensville. She was one of twelve children born to William and Martisha. Miss Mahaffey was preceded in death by both her parents, three brothers, Clifford Treadway, Jack Treadway, and Larry Treadway, four sisters, Julie Eldreth, Dorothy Eastridge, Margaret Ray, and Debbie Rupard.
Miss Mahaffey is survived by: one daughter, Lora Ann Mahaffey of Warrensville, one son, Randy Edwin Mahaffey of Warrensville. One granddaughter, Kimberly Renee Eldreth and husband Earnest of Warrensville, two great-granddaughters, Kirsten Renee Shumate and Keyla Mae Eldreth both of Warrensville, NC.
Miss Mahaffey is also survived by one brother, Dean Treadway of Warrensville, NC and three sisters, Helen Jones and Mary Campbell both of Warrensville, NC and Lois Grogan (Thomas) of Granite Falls, NC. Mildred’s special friend, Janet Lyons and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Miss Mahaffey started work at the age of 17 for Hanes as a sewing machine operator. Even after Sara Lee Knit Products took over the company. She worked there a total of 37 years until they shut down the plant. She then went on to work for Jefferson Apparel until they also shut the doors and closed the plant. Then she went back to college at the ripe age of 61 and got her CNA license and started working in-home health for Ashe Services for Aging. She worked there 16 years traveling from one client to the next helping the elderly stay in their home as long as possible until she was no longer able to work herself. Miss Mahaffey enjoyed working and staying busy. She enjoyed going to yard sales and thrift stores with her friends and family. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her great-granddaughters, Kirsten and Keyla. She loved church and the Lord and never missed a service unless there was no other option. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends and had the best laugh. She will be greatly missed by all.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2023 at 12:00pm at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Brother Scott Whitehead. Burial will follow in the Clint Gilley Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 11th from 6:00-8:00pm at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel. The family will all receive friends after the funeral and graveside services at The Church of God on Pounding Mill Rd. in Warrensville.
