Mitchell Charles Hart, lovingly known as "Monk," passed away at his home on Sunday, December 15, 2024, at the age of 71. Born in Ashe County to the late Luther and Mable Clark Hart, Monk lived a life defined by hard work, faith, and a deep love for his family and the outdoors.
Monk dedicated 38 years of service to Sprague Electric and later United Chemi-Con. Outside of work, Monk found joy in farming, fishing, and spending time in nature. His hobbies included collecting railroad memorabilia and Native American artifacts, and he had a special fondness for anything related to John Wayne.
A dog lover at heart, Monk held a special place in his life for his cherished canine companions: Lulu, Duke, and Buddy. They brought him endless joy and companionship.
In 2011, Monk became a devoted member of Sturgills Baptist Church, where he found solace and strength in his faith. He loved the Lord deeply and carried that love into every aspect of his life. Above all, Monk cherished his family, always prioritizing their happiness and well-being.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jennifer Roten Hart; his two sons, Robbie Hart of Lansing and Austin Hart of the home; his cherished granddaughter, Ella Hart; mother-in-law, Sandy Roten of Lansing; and a special brother in-law, Daniel Roten (Lisa) of Lansing.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 20, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Rev. Dustin Farmer, Rev. Jim Greer, and Rev. Lloyd Day. Burial will follow in the Sexton Cemetery.
