Mr. Alan Ray Sawyer age 73, of Warrensville, died Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Mr. Sawyer was born September 7, 1943 in Ashe County to Frank and Lola Sawyer. Mr. Sawyer was preceded in death by his father and brothers, Arvil Sawyer and Steve Sawyer. Mr. Sawyer was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church. His hobbies included hunting arrowheads, fishing, whittling and woodworking.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 21, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Pleasant View Baptist Church by Rev. Dwight Shepherd & Rev. Lloyd Day. Burial will follow in Brooks Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Saturday, May 20th at Badger Funeral Home.
Mr. Sawyer is survived by: his wife, Edna Sawyer, his mother, Lola Sawyer Greer of Warrensville, two sons, Ray Sawyer and wife Lisa of Jefferson and J. C. Sawyer and wife Yolanda of Warrensville, three step-daughters, Bobbi Blevins and husband Tom of Whitetop, Gaye Miller and husband Roger of Fleetwood and Regenia Ham and husband Danny Armstrong of West Jefferson, , aunt, Carrialee Elliott of Millers Creek and uncle, J. H. Brooks of Warrensville also surviving are 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
