Mr. Billy Gerald Bare age 80, of Wilkesboro, NC died Saturday, September 12, 2015 at his home. Mr. Bare was born December 18, 1934 in Ashe County to Lloyd and Sessie Walters Bare. Mr. Bare was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Helen Parham, brothers, Curtis Bare, Wiley Wade Bare and Richard Bare. Mr. Bare served 21 years in the US Army in the Korean and Vietnam Wars and was awarded the bronze star. He served as deputy sheriff for 25 years in Ashe, Watauga and Wilkes Counties.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, September 17, 2015 at 3:00 pm at Badger Funeral Home by Rev. Russell Sheets. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm Thursday, prior to the service at Badger Funeral Home.
Mr. Bare is survived by: His wife, Mildred Latham Bare of Wilkes and his six children, Mark Bare and wife Evelyn of Idaho, Abigale Stanbery and husband James of Millers Creek, Sessie Brown and husband J C of Wilkesboro, David Bare and wife Dusty of North Wilkesboro, Della Myers of Salisbury and Jeremiah Bare of Polkton, Sister, Elizabeth Burgess of Kannapolis, 2 Brothers, Jim Bare of Jefferson and Jerry Bare of Troutman also surviving are 14 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to American Heart Association, c/o June Weaver, PO Box 791, Jefferson, NC 28640.
