Carl Richard Poe, 77, of Speedway Road, North Wilkesboro, formerly of West Jefferson, died Thursday, November 22, 2012 at his home. He was born June 30, 1935 in Ashe County to Ellis and Ella Bare Poe. He was a US Army veteran and was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Ashe County. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Joyce Bourne, Virginia "Ginny" Canter, and Claire Pennington; two brothers, Doughton Poe and Sidney Poe.
Survivors include: his wife, Ina Elliott Poe of the home; one daughter, Tammie Poe Woodie and husband Steve of Laurel Springs; two sons, Timothy Mark Poe and wife Tina of North Wilkesboro, Tony Randall Poe and wife Kim of Hamptonville; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Georgia Poe Meadows, Mae Poe Lawing both of Rutherford County, Ann Poe Bowman of Baltimore, MD; two step-daughters, Donna Roten, Mylinthia Wagoner and husband Allen all of North Wilkesboro; six step-grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be 11:00 o'clock Saturday at Badger Funeral Home Chapel in Ashe County with Rev. Fred Richardson and Rev. Joey McClure officiating. The family will receive friends at Badger Funeral Home prior to and following the memorial service.
