Mr. Elihu "Hugh" Milton McNeill

Mr. Elihu Milton McNeill better known as Hugh age 85, of West Jefferson, died on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at Margate Health and Rehab Center. Mr. McNeill was born on March 9, 1930 in Ashe County to James Davis and Bridie Roark McNeill. Mr. McNeill was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Robert Davis McNeill, grandmother, Mary Elizabeth Davis McNeill and grandfather, Elihu Alexander McNeill with whom he was very close. Mr. McNeill was a long time employee of McNeill's Department Store. He loved talking to and working with people, walking on the beach and traveling. Hugh had a gentle nature and a caring spirit.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 3:00 PM at Mt. Jefferson Presbyterian Church by Rev. Will Heyward. Burial will follow in the Jefferson Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 3:00 PM prior to the service at the church.

Mr. McNeill is survived by: two nieces, Cynthia McNeill Cummins and husband Dr. Larry of Shelby, NC, Robbin McNeill of West Jefferson, two great nephews, Brandon Lemly & wife Leisa of Jefferson, Byron Lemly and fiance Jammie Lynn Whitted of Boone.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to, Mount Jefferson Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 782, West Jefferson, NC 28694.
