James Edward Blevins, better known as Jim, age 55 of Creston died on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Watauga Medical Center. Mr. Blevins was born in Baltimore County, MD on April 29, 1961. Jim has worked with his second family at the NCDOT for over 26 years, holding the position of transportation supervisor. He loved his work; that love shined though to everyone he helped by ensuring their safety, working during the night and through hazardous conditions for people in his community. He was an avid outdoors-man, who enjoyed fishing and spending time on his boat. Jim was devoted to his family and took great joy in spending his time with them whenever possible.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 25th, 2017 at 12:00 noon at Badger Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Blevins Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00-12:00 noon one hour prior to the service at Badger Funeral Home.
Mr. Blevins is survived by: his wife, Pat Segraves Blevins, one daughter, Jessica Kennedy of Piney Creek, his parents, Iva Lee Price Blevins & Lowell Blevins, Sr. of Creston, two brothers, Lowell Blevins, Jr. of Creston , Glenn Blevins & wife Kathy of Mountain City, TN, five sisters, Bertha Lee Houser & husband Bobby, Mary Eastridge & husband Jerry all of Creston, Pat Lowther & husband Ray , Sheri Plum & fiancé Douglas Stull all of West Virginia, and Charlene Blankenbeckler & husband Roger of Mountain City, TN, one grandson, Owen Mills of Piney Creek, several nieces and nephews also survive.
