Mr. John Bernard Sexton age 86, of Lansing, died on Thursday, December 4, 2014 at his residence. Mr. Sexton was born on March 25, 1928 in Ashe County to Charles Franklin and Mary Caroline Sexton. Mr. Sexton was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Thelma June Powers Sexton. Mr. Sexton was a member of Landmark Baptist Church. He was known as a regular "Mr. Fix It" for people in the community. Mr. Sexton retired from Thomasville Furniture but he also worked as a land surveyor for many years locally as well as Grayson County, Virginia and in the state of Maryland. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 7, 2014 at 2:00 pm at the Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Charles McCoy, and Pastor Tommy Wurth. Burial will follow in Sexton Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Sunday, December 7, 2014 at Badger Funeral Home.
Mr. Sexton is survived by: two sons, Rick Sexton of Lansing, Terry Sexton & wife Debbie of Warrensville, one daughter, Cheryl Roark & husband Robert of Lansing, four grandchildren, Steve Miller, Michael Sexton, Chrystal Hartzog, Catherine Sexton, two great-grandchildren, Josh Miller, Timothy Hartzog, & two great-great-grandchildren.
