Mr. Larry Wayne Aycoth age 72, of West Jefferson, NC went to be with Jesus on Friday, June 6, 2014 at the Watauga Medical Center in Boone, NC. Mr. Aycoth was born on April 14, 1942 in Rowan County, NC to William Oscar and Ella Canipe Aycoth. Mr. Aycoth was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Ray Smith and one sister, Betty Nesbit. Larry worked as an electrician for Hearst Celanese and retired after 32 years of employment. Mr. Aycoth was a member of the First Assembly of God in Mooresville, NC where he served as Senior Commander of the Royal Rangers for 18 years, and continued to serve in Ashe County until his health would not allow. He also served as Sunday school teacher, board member, and operated the sound system for the church. The last two years Larry was at the Glenbridge Center, but that did not diminish his positive attitude or his ministry for the Lord.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 21, 2014 at 11:00 am at the First Assembly of God by Pastor Keith Styron. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall.
Mr. Aycoth is survived by: his wife of 43 years, Joyce Jordan Aycoth, son, Dana & wife Jeannie of North Dakota, three granddaughters, Danielle Russ, Amanda Trotter, Savanna Overcash, two great-grandchildren, Mason Russ, Zophia Memon, two sisters in-law, Judy Jordan Murray & husband Jack of West Jefferson, Ellen Jordan Shaffer & husband Jack of Jacksonville, FL and one brother in-law Arnold Jordan & wife Louise of Rockingham, NC. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Assembly of God, 210 Faw Roland Street, Jefferson, NC 28640.
