Mr. Marvin Wayne Greer age 88, of Jefferson, NC died Thursday, September 3, 2015 at his home. Mr. Greer was born April 28, 1927 in Lansing, NC to Roy Andrew and Viney Calhoun Greer. Mr. Greer was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Edith Virginia Greer, sister, Minnie McCoy, brothers, Leonard, Onnie, Howard and Clay Greer.. Mr. Greer was a member of Bristol Baptist Church. He served in US Army during WWII. He was active in all the local veteran's organizations. He enjoyed spending time with his family.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 6, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Bristol Baptist Church by Rev. Billy Joe Blevins, Rev. Jim Greer and Rev. Ken Furches. Burial will follow in Proctor - Greer Cemetery with military rites. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Saturday, September 5, 2015 at Badger Funeral Home.
Mr. Greer is survived by: 4 daughters, Wanda Hamby, Anita Miller and Becky Goss all of Jefferson and Debbie Greer of Franklin, 2 sons, Ralph "Buddy" Greer of Jefferson and Marvin Greer, Jr. of Wilmington, brother, James Worth Greer of PA, sister, Lula Belle Horn of Granite Falls also surviving are 15 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, 19 great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
