Annie Lee Blevins Dickens, age 75 of Lansing, passed away Monday, May 15, 2017 at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA.
She was born September 26, 1941 in Ashe County to the late Edmond and Ocie Blevins. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by one daughter, Vadia Ann Dickens; one grandson, Steven Burns; three brothers, Hobert Blevins, Herbert Blevins, and William Blevins; four sisters, Zola Blevins, Trulia Robinson, Thulia Burgess, and Bobbie Hart; son-in-law, Michael Burns.
Annie was a loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed gardening, canning, making crafts, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a loving and caring person to everyone she met. Annie retired after thirty-one years of service at Heinz Foods in West Chester, PA. She was a long standing member of The Jennersville Church of the Brethren in Jennersville, PA until retiring back to North Carolina where she attended Peak Creek Church of the Brethren.
She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Billy W. Dickens of the home; one son, Quintin W. Dickens and wife Phyllis of Cochranville, PA; one daughter, Billie Lee Burns of Cochranville, PA; eleven grandchildren, Sharrie Moore, Amy Pongonis, Jessica Dickens, Kathy Dickens, Charlotte Stringer, Tina Miller, Travis Dickens, Mark Jenkins, Lisa Marshman, Michael Burns, William Burns; eleven great-grandchildren, Joshua Moore, Gavin Moore, Daniel Pongonis, Mark Jenkins, Michael Jenkins, Cameron Foti, Miley Marshman, Maci Marshman, Sophie Burns, Molly Stringer, Dixie Miller; one sister, Lessie Ham of Lansing; one sister-in-law, Virginia Blevins of Lansing; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday May 20, 2017 at Badger Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Ed Hall officiating. Burial will follow in the Scott-Blevins cemetery in Ashe County. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Grandview Memorial Funeral Home, 789 Grandview Drive, Sparta, NC 28675 to help assist the family with funeral expenses.
