Mrs. Harriet Eastman Powers age 95, of West Jefferson, NC died Sunday, April 10, 2016 at Margate Health and Rehab Center. Mrs. Powers was born March 21, 1921 in Riceville, Iowa to Fred and Martha King Eastman. Mrs. Powers was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Warren Preston Powers. Mrs. Powers loved growing flowers and spending time with the children she taught at school and visiting with her family and friends.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 14, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Russell Sheets and Dr. Calvin Miller. Entombment will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum of Prayer. The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm prior to the service at Badger Funeral Home.

Mrs. Powers is survived by: two sons, Rev. Larry Thomas Powers and wife Peggy of Jefferson and David Eastman Powers and wife Sandra of Madison, daughter, Carolyn Lee Pierce of Reidsville, special friend who she loved like a son, Jackie Blevins, two cousins, Charles King and Cathy Parks. Also surviving are 3 grandchildren, Barbara Pierce and husband C. J. Hurley, Melissa Pierce and Victoria Powers and 4 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Gideon's International, PO Box 1014, Jefferson, NC 28640.
