Mrs. June Roten Kemp

June Roten Kemp age 91 of West Jefferson died Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Forest Ridge Assisted Living. Mrs. Kemp was born in Ashe County June 17, 1924 to George Washington and Artie Jones Roten. Mrs. Kemp was preceded in death by her parents, husband, James "Jim" Kemp, brothers and sisters, Ella Mock, Maggie Brown, Dorothy Roland, Glen Roten, Locke Osborne, Lottie McCoy and Bruce Roten. She was a charter member of Mount Paddy Church and always took pride in her family and her church. June enjoyed quilting, fishing, was known for her great homemade rolls, most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at 11:00am at Mount Paddy Church by Pastor Tim Roten. Burial will follow in the Lewis Cemetery.The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00am Tuesday prior to the service at the church.
Mrs. Kemp is survived by, one son Jerry Kemp and wife Geneva of West Jefferson, one daughter, Joanne Kemp of West Jefferson, one brother, Raymond Roten of Ohio, three grandchildren, Joe Kemp and wife Jennifer, Jerry Kemp and wife Crystal, Jennifer Hess and husband Dusty, 5 great-grandchildren, 1 great great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews also survive.
