Mrs. Mikayo Haraguchi Myers

Mrs. Mikayo H. Myers age 65, of West Jefferson, died early Saturday morning, February 13, 2016 at her home after a long illness. Mikayo was born January 13, 1951 in Araki, Kurume City, Fukuoka Province in Japan to Akira and Fujie Ichinose Haraguchi. Mikayo was married to Rufus Bradshaw Myers, son of Lola Landreth Myers, a former West Jefferson School teacher and Riley Bradshaw Myers who was a barber in West Jefferson for 50 years. Mikayo has been living in West Jefferson for 25 years. Mikayo was a loyal member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Boone. Their son, Roman recently graduated from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 19, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Badger Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Friday, prior to the service at Badger Funeral Home.

Mrs. Myers is survived by: husband, Rufus Bradshaw Myers, son, Roman Bradshaw Myers of Palalto, CA, brother, Hiroshi Haraguchi of Japan, sister, Noriko Marsuo and husband Tadayoshi of Japan, two nieces, Kazume and husband Mr. Tanaka and Shizue, three great nieces also survive.
